Artery Blockage

As we get older cholesterol, calcium, and other minerals accumulate on the inside lining of our blood vessels and clog them over time. You may know this as hardening of the arteries, atherosclerosis, arteriosclerosis or arterial plaque buildup.

At times a picture is worth a thousand words, as you can see when plaque builds up in your blood vessels, this restricts blood flow (carrying oxygen and nutrients) to your body. The obvious outcome is clogged pipes, this leads to cardiovascular diseases.

A few examples of such diseases are:
  • High blood pressure
  • Angina (chest pain due to poor blood circulation to the heart)
  • Heart attack
  • Peripheral vascular disease (poor circulation to the legs and feet),
  • Stroke
These conditions are not only physically disabling, but they also can lead to depression in patients. Blood is the "nutritional delivery boy" to all your tissue, when this delivery process is restricted your heart as well as other vital organs are affected.

Plaque Buildup

As you have seen in the above picture this plaque buildup or hardening of the arteries is a serious health threat, even life threatening. Don't think this disease stops with the heart, this is NOT a localized disease.

If you coronary arteries are clogged with plaque there is a very good chance that the arteries to your brain (stroke), your kidneys, lungs, sex organs, digestive system and other vital organs have some plaque buildup.

Here are some things your Doctor might have discussed with you about this disease:
  • Artery blockage
  • Clogged cardiac artery
  • LDL to high
  • Blood pressure high
  • Blood circulation poor
  • Drugs prescribed
  • Surgery required
In some cases there may be no other option but surgery, in most cases you do have alternatives.

Artery Blockage Alternatives

The obvious (you know what I'm about to say) change your diet and review your exercise program. Will this have an immediate affect on the problem no, but it will not add to it and you have to change, now is that time.

What you have to do is start the process of breaking down the plaque and taking stress of your body.

EDTA - EDTA chelation is a therapy by which repeated administrations of a weak synthetic amino acid (EDTA, ethylenediamine tetra-acetic acid) gradually reduce atherosclerotic plaque and other mineral deposits throughout the cardiovascular system by literally dissolving them away.

There are two types of EDTA chelation, there is oral and intravenously injected.

EDTA removes toxic metals from the blood. As we age we are continuously accumulating toxic metals such as lead, mercury, aluminum, iron, cadmium, and arsenic etc. This increases the risk of various diseases, included is heart disease.

EDTA has been the standard FDA approved treatment for more than 50 years for the removal of these metals. EDTA normalizes the distribution of most metallic elements in the body.

One of the little know benefits of EDTA is it's ability to redistribute calcium. Studies have shown by lowering blood calcium and stimulating the parathyroid gland, this produce a hormone called parathormone. This hormone removes calcium from the arteries and deposits it into the bone. So, EDTA actually increases your bone strength.

I.V. vs Oral Chelation

The major difference is really speed, degree and cost.

IV chelation - costs between 2 to 4 thousand dollars for a complete treatment. 100% of EDTA is absorbed in the blood stream and the process is much shorter compared to oral.

Oral - more convenient, costs $15.00 to $40.00 a month, absorbed 5-10 % into the blood stream.

Because of the absorption differences it take about 5 to 6 weeks of the oral application to equal 1 IV session. If you are not in the critical stages of artery blockage, oral is a great alternative. Conversely, if your condition is more advanced you may consider IV if convenience and costs fit your schedule.

Did You Know About This For Artery Blockage?

Did you know about EDTA? If you didn't you will have to ask your medical system why. I would bet it might have something to do with the cost of surgery. A heart operation costs between 50 to 100K, compare that with IV chelation which is 2 to 4K, you be the judge.

Lets not diminish the value of urgent care, surgeons save lives, but the system is very weak in prevention. It's up to you on how far do you want to let things go, how much can you depend on the health care system for your preventative health and what is the cost both financially and health wise if you don't.
